The UK government agreed to pay X amount to public sector workers when tyhey retired at a certain age.
Now the government is saying sorry, we have spent some of your pension money so you will get less than agreed.
That is the long and the short of it. It does not matter if you agree with public sector worker’s pension or not.
If you are expecting a state pension from the UK government then these pension cuts by the government will effect you at some point.
Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude said the strike was “inappropriate, untimely and irresponsible”, adding: “Responsibility for any disruption which people may experience today lies squarely with union leaders.
So according to the government, people protesting against another party for breaking a legal contract is inappropriate and irresponsible.
The government taking on responsibilities which it can in no way honour is, on the other hand, completely responsible and appropriate.
This is nothing new, governments no matter what the country never admit their failings, no matter how obvious, instead there preffered reaction is to attack and denigrate the people that have been hurt by their actions.
