Why Is Greece Having Such A Hard Time Adjusting?

Before we get into it, we first have to recognise that the Greek government is a separate entity from the Greek people.

The Greek government does the spending, the Greek people pick up the tab.

Now we have established the fundamentals, let us look at why the Greek government is having such a tough job to sort out its finances.

The 7000 kg elephant in the room is the Greek government has its tentaciles embedded throughout the fabric of Greek society.

Ultimately the Greek government has taken on far too much responsibility and it simply cannot deliver.

Huge pension and benefit obligations are half the story.

The other half is the government is simply too large.

The problem?

The Greek government does not want to give up it’s almost total control and manipulation of the Greek economy.

What evidence is there to back this up?

3 years after the government financial problems came to light the best solution the government has is to shed 15,000 workers this year and cut salaries of everyone else in the government.

This is the Greek government’s attempt to keep as many people as dependent on it as possible at the lowest possible cost.

All the measures taken so far have one fundamental similarity. They are designed to keep government control at the lowest possible cost.

And to make sure the pay cuts are taken the Greek government has sabotaged the Greek private sector so any public employee wanting to leave for higher wages have no job to go to.

You make think I am simplifying the situation but I assure you, I am not.

From VAT increases, to increase on the cost of fuel, to taxes on businesses, to massive increases on taxes on property. All these things have been designed to cripple the Greek private sector so public sector employees cannot leave and find better paid work with private companies.

The Greek government controls the Greek people by making Greeks dependent on it. Forget all the fluff that you hear in the mainstream media. Intentionally or not, this is what has happened and is continuing to happen.

The Greek government should be cutting entire ministerial departments immediately, instead we see the Greek government acting like they have all the time in the world.

On the one hand you have Greek politicians threatening the Greek people with catastrophe and yet at the same time Greek politicians are laying out their plans as to how they will cut costs in 3 years time. It really is absurd.

What departments should the Greek government cut?

Let’s start with tourism. Your last Greek holiday. Did you at anytime in the planning process or in your time on holiday in Greece. Did you see any evidence of the Greek government making your holiday a better experience?

On this evidence alone the ministry of tourism should be abolished. The private sector is more than capable of looking after themselves and their customers.

The department of commerce. Greece is ranked 100 in the world when it comes to ease of doing business, that alone should tell you that this government department should be closed.

These are 2 departments which could be cut tomorrow but it takes us back to the original problem.

Now that the Greek government has destroyed the private sector, what are these people going to do? Unemployment is at 25%.

Why is it so important for the Greek government to have such control over the Greek people? Why is the Greek government continuing with the destruction of the Greek economy?

Why can the Greek government just accept they are the cause of all the problems and they should mind their own business?
