The Working Class Do Not Need Government “Help”

It is standard fare in the press to refer to people living in poverty as the little people.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The “Working class” make up 16% of the population in Britain. There are plenty of companies who would love to have a slice of this market. National supermarket chains for example.

For the government to get involved in health care and education under the pretence that working class people couldn’t afford decent health care otherwise is ridiculous. Name one industry that the government is involved in where the government runs a better and more cost effective service than the private sector.

I cannot think of one.

The same goes for education. It is hard to believe with today’s technology that the percentage of GDP spent on education is pretty much the same as it was 40years ago.

The picture for health care is even worse. The government manages to spend more and more on healthcare every year and this is despite people living longer healthier lives. Again with technology what possible reason is there for this?

The long and the short of it, when the government comes into a market and offers something for free it wipes out any competition in that sector and creates a monopoly.

Let me put it this way. If the government were to decide it wants to go into the clothing retail to help cloth the working class. Do you honestly believe that the quality of the clothes will improve?

The government also likes to say “free” education or “free” healthcare. As adults we should know that nothing is free. The taxation required to fund these “free” services directly hits the earning potential of the “working class”. The taxes they pay, and the taxes their employers pay makes them and everybody else worse off.
