Some Sanity From The Greek Ruling Class – Greek Property Tax

I have written about the property tax in Greece before.

The gist being that the govenrment is seeking to bypass the Greek legal system in order to punish citizens.

A glimpse of fairness today for Greeks. The State Council ruled that this method of tax collection unconstitutional.

a court ruling which found the tax legal but not the practice of cutting off power to those who do not pay.

It is unfortunate that such an obviously immorla method would not be voluntarily abolished by the government. Instead legal action was necessary to show the government that their actions were agasint the interests of the Greek people.

Greeks, for now at least, seem to have the legal system that is committed to fair treatment of citizens.
