With one seemingly crazy political maneuver Papandreou has managed to transform the Greek political landscape in less than 48 hours.
Not 3 weeks ago we had massive objection to the latest bail out plan, Samaras leader of the main opposition being the loudest opposer.
But now it seems all politicians including Samaras have done a 180 degree turn and are now saying Greece must do everything it can to get the next bail out.
While the calling of a snap referendum seemed like the actions of a deranged politician it has actually been an excellent move.
It has forced people, even those not in power to state their position and as it turns out, all the politicians, despite all of their political posturing would have done the exact same thing Papandreou has ben doing for the past 3 years and that is accept whatever terms are given by the troika.
Who has been most damaged by Papandreou apparent surprise move? Undoubtedly Samaras, the one politician who has been so critical of the bailout plan and who has now fallen into line.
The referendum looks to have been called off now, this looks to have been a massive bluff by Papandreou
