World Superbikes – Wales/Chaz Davies, ParkinGo, Aprilia 1st!!!

Chaz Davies is in his first year in World Superbikes but today he won his first race at the Nurburgring in Germany.

Chaz was third in the first race and won the second race in a performance that was nothing less than dominant.

After pressuring the world championship leaders into mistakes Chaz picked up the pieces and  made his first World Superbike win look easy.

An awesome result for ParkinGo, MCT and Aprilia.

No mean feat considering Chaz Davies is not even on a factory Aprilia. Chaz beat the factory Aprilia’s on a customer bike, something anyone will tell you is difficult.

Chaz Davies’s win at the Nurburgring was despite the commentators trying to jinx him in any way they could.

James Toseland was commentating for Eurosport, to get an idea of the amount of jinxing he was trying to put on Chaz these are some of the things he was coming out with.

With 5 laps to go “Chaz deserves this win, his family have put everything into him”

With 5 laps to go “We are willing the chequered flag to come”

With 5 laps to go “This is an awesome result for Chaz”

With 5 laps to go “Is Chaz having engine problems, I’m sure I heard something”

“Chaz is controlling this race”

Given the fact that the top riders were falling like flies this king of commentary was inviting disaster fortunately Chaz Davies powered through for the win for MTC, Aprilia and ParkinGo.

Chaz is gong from strength to strength in the World Superbike Championship, he was off to a slow start to the season because the ParkinGo team are small and he had no testing but as the season progresses the cream is rising to the top, Chaz is now 8th overall in the World Superbike Championship.

The podium was the only let down to Chaz’s win and hits to the heart of this website, independence4wales.

We had the British flag on the podium but unfortunately we also had the British anthem.

I understand that Chaz is “British” and I think the flag is enough, but if the countries that are part of the union are to get the respect they apparently deserve then at the very least the relevent anthems should be played when Wales, Scotland or England come first.

I am sure the English would love to hear the English anthem when and English member of the Union wins why not have the Scottish and Welsh anthems play?

The Union flag shows the union, to display the real power of the union and to respect the countries that make up the union surely the relevent anthems of the countries should be played rather than the British anthem?
