Two sides to every headline

“The sovereignty of Greece will be massively limited,” Greece will be like Wales?

Says Junker of the current bail out conditions. Are we seeing the end of Greece as an independent country?

From these comments it certainly looks like it. Perhaps Greece will end up in the same position as Wales with England. ie Greece no longer having control of setting taxes, Greece not having anymore control over tax collection, Greece having limited control over the laws that it can pass.

Is this the future for Greece?

What is not clear is who will be the “surrogate” country. Obviously Wales was invaded by England and Wales now has English law and English control over it’s taxes. Who will be the surrogate of Greece? Could Greece be the first country to be full integrated with the EU.

Could Greece be the first country that is controlled by Brussels? Could Greece be the first country inside the European Union to have it’s tax policies set by the European Union? This has long been the rumoured goal of the EU to harmonise taxation throughout the Euro zone.

Perhaps Greece will be the first country to loose control of it’s legal system and have it replaced with a EU legal system and framework.

This might not sound too bad to some people but there is a difference between the situation Wales is trying to fight it’s way out of and the situation Greece could be heading for.

The politicians in London are elected officials. The controllers of Europe in Brussels such as Borrosso and Van Rumpuy are not elected officials. No person in Europe has elected them, so they have no consequences to any of the actions they take.

Barrosso and van Rumpuy are not answerable to anyone, yet they can pass laws which effect all Europeans.

It is a worry that people in Europe and especially people in Greece could be walking into a dictatorship.
