NFC Championship Predictions 2011/2012 Season Giants @ 49ers

The Giants put on a professional display at Lambeau field. They did the basics well and the were disciplined.

The brilliance of the passing and the calmness of Manning did the rest.

The 49ers had a tougher game against the New Orleans Saints. The 49ers Saints game was a metaphorical blood bath with the 49ers coming through simply because they wanted it more.

But did the effort the 49ers put in to beat the Saints fatigue them for the rest of the post season?

If the 49ers were having to go to Lambeau field, then it is possible. The fact is the 49ers are playing the Giants at home for the championship and that cannot be underestimated.

While the Giants display against the Packers was impressive, it was not exciting. If the Packers offense played even half as well as they had in the 2011/2011 season the Giants would have been beaten easily.

So going into Candlestick Park which team is the favourite?

In my opinion, the 49ers simply cannot be beaten.

The psychological strength and determination I think Harbaugh has put into the team is probably the best in the NFL. The 49ers are simply animals. Ferocious animals.

Any team that faces the 49ers in Candlestick Park will be feeling fear.

Fear from the crowd, fear from the players and fear from the 49er coaches.

The only way the Giants are going to be able to win in San Francisco is if the 49ers have an off day, it is possible but I think the chances are slim.

The 49ers have had a solid season from the get go, the Giants have slowly been building.

Whereas the Giants are only just finding their level of play the 49ers found their level of play many weeks ago and have been fine tuning going into the post season.

The Giants do not have a powerful running game and the league’s worst defence (packers) pretty much shut down the Giants. The 49ers will do a better defensive job than the Packers.

The Giants did a mediocre job on pass defense, like I said, if the Packers were firing on even half of their cylinders the Giants would have been blown away.

The 49ers on the other hand faced a passing offense in full power mode and contained them. I think the 49ers defense will severely restrict the Giants passing game and all but eliminate the Giants running game keeping their scoring down.

The weakest part of the 49ers offense as I see it is the pass. There were times against the Saints when the 49ers were struggling to get anything going. The Giants pass defense looks better than the Saints in my eyes so this is a worry if you have money on the 49ers.

The 49ers running game is awesome. Their running back Gore is a beast who will get a lot more yards than Rodgers.

So the difference is going to come down to the 49ers running game, I think that is what is  going to win them the game.

If it is a close game I think the motivation that Harbaugh has put into his players will shine through.

As Davies says, it’s the 49ers against “can’t”, it’s the 49ers against “no”.

In summary I think it is a 49er win. It will be a low scoring game, less than 40 points.

the difference will be the 49er running game.

With regards to turnovers, it is difficult.

Both teams are ruthless with ripping the ball out of the attacker. This could mean one of two things.

One, there will be a lot of fumbles or two there wont be many fumbles at all because both teams will be expecting the ripping.

If I had to say low fumbles or high number of fumbles, I would say high.

Offensive yards. Low, I think the game will be a grind, I think it will be a very physical game with lots of big hits. I think both teams are going to be moving the ball but they wont be zippping up and down the pitch.
