How To Tell When A Politician Is Lying

But seriously, how can you tell when a politician is trying to do something against your best interests?

The biggest give away is when the politician uses dramatizes the issue or in some way connects the issue with your personal safety or finances.

For example, a politician says that if the banks are not bailed out the economy will implode, banks will close and their will be military  on the street, that really gets my attention.

It gets my attention not because of what the politician is saying but why they are saying it. Are dramatics the best argument they have?

Why does the person in power feel it is appropriate to jump straight to the end of the argument without explanation, especially if the end of the argument is trying to make me do such a big thing, ie give thousands of pounds to a bank.

Surely if the politician had a reasonable argument a simple explanation would suffice and the conclusion would be understood by all, it would not need to be pointed out because it would be obvious.

It is much easier and more productive if you explain something to somebody and let them get on board through understanding.

If you tell someone to do something without explaining why, it is hard for that person to really buy into your plans, especially if they don’t understand why you are asking them to do something.

Given that, results are much better if things are explained, why would the government not take the time to explain the thinking behind their plans to the people in detail, especially when the government is asking for so much.

You would think government would want to make their lives easier by explaining the ins and outs.

But no, with regards to the banker bailouts and wars, huge sacrifices are asked by the taxpayer with no intelligent explanation from the politicians.

This tells me the government does not have a sound argument for their banker bailouts and wars.
