Greek Politicians Addicted

to what I am not sure, maybe power, maybe money, maybe status. What I am sure of though is that they are addicted to bailouts.

The American Society of Addiction Medicine defines addiction like this

Addiction is a primary, chronic disease of brain reward, motivation, memory and related circuitry. Dysfunction in these circuits leads to characteristic biological, psychological, social and spiritual manifestations. This is reflected in the individual pursuing reward and/or relief by substance use and other behaviors. The addiction is characterized by impairment in behavioral control, craving, inability to consistently abstain, and diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships. Like other chronic diseases, addiction can involve cycles of relapse and remission. Without treatment or engagement in recovery activities, addiction is progressive and can result in disability or premature death.

I was shocked with the accuracy. Tell me that is not a mirror of the behaviour of the Greek politicians at the moment with regards to the bail out and the effect on their country.

What are the symptoms of the addiction? The continued pursuit of increasing taxes despite all indicators telling them that they are going to send the country into a deep depression, not recession, depression. That they are going to close tens of thousands of business and put millions out of work.

Of course an alternative is that they are sadists and like to see people suffer, a possibility but I am not sure how you could prove it.

But what if they are not addicted and they are not sadists, what if there is actually a method to the madness. What exactly are they trying to achieve by destroying the economy?

Let’s start with what they are obviously not trying to do.

The Greek government is not trying to build a solid foundation for the county that will enable to businesses to start, that will enable businesses to grow and thrive, that will allows business to expand into other countries, that will put thousands of people into work, that will do something to address the trade deficit.

The actions of the Greek government will achieve none of these things, they will achieve the exact opposite.

So to summarise.

The Greek government wants to
Get rid of businesses
Get rid of self employed people
Shrink businesses
Make companies unable to export
Put millions of people out of work
Increase the trade deficit

Of course they will say the exact opposite, which is typical, but let me quote Peter Schiff, “If the government weather man tells me it’s sunny outside and I look out the window and I see that it is raining, trust me, I am going to take an umbrella”

But why would they want to do this? Is it possible that they have sold out, that they are working to a different agenda, an agenda which does not put the health of the Greek economy and Greek people as the top priority?

I see no evidence that suggests otherwise which means that democracy means nothing in Greece. The Greek people have voted in their own oppressors out of their own free will.

What is the solution? Well I think a 3 day week would be a good start. A 3 day week for all businesses except those that deal in food, energy and transport. Hopefully that will finally break the charade that is masquerading as a favour to the Greek people, ie government/bank bail outs.

At the moment the Greek people have the upper hand. They are strong enough to withstand a default unlike the Greek govenrment and the Greek banks.

Bring on the restructuring as soon as possible while the Greek people still have some strength and not in the future when the Greek people will be drained of finances by this economic arson and will not be in a position to defend themselves against the government and the banks.
