Greek Election 2012-No Coalition-Why It Is An Absurd Situation

So the 3 main players are ND/Samaras, PASOK/Venizelos & Syriza/Tsipras.

ND & Syriza want to renegotiate the memorandum. PASOK does not want to renegotiate.

This is what the Greek media puts out and this is where the conversation starts and finishes.

I have said it before (about Greek property laws), but this situation is a complete disgrace.

The memorandum has nothing to do with Greece’s problems, nothing.

The problem is that Greece sends 20 billion Euros a year out of the country through the trade deficit. The Greek government spends around 20billion Euros a year that it does not have.

This is the problem and this is what the politicians should be talking about.

Let me use an analogy to explain the situation.

It’s like an able person, not working, but is able to work, and claiming benefit from the government, and arguing the toss with the government that they do not like the conditions attached to the unemployment benefit.

The situation is a disgrace and it is absurd.

The whole bail out situation has completely diverted people’s attention from the real issue.

The question should be why can the Greek government not reform and do without foreign aid? There are many easy solutions to this problem that I have highlighted in this blog.

Unfortunately the news agenda is not even addressing the problem. The whole news agenda is about the government getting its unemployment benefit from the EU.

Why does the media not start talking about why the Greek government needs this money in the first place and stop talking about renegotiating the bailout?

Why does the Greek government seem completely uninterested in making Greece a financial and economic power house?

Please, tell me why you think the news agenda is all about bailouts rather than about fixing the core problem.

The fact that the 3 parties listed do not want to talk to each other even though their views are broadly the same is a complete mystery to me.
