Are You Greek? – Take The Test! – Are You Helping Or “Enabling” The Greek Government?

Do you think you are an enabler of the Greek government or do you think your actions are actually helping? Take the 2 minute to test to find out if you are an “enabler” or a “helper”.

First of all, what is an enabler? Adapted from about.com

Many times when taxpayers try to “help” governments who spend recklessly, they are actually making it easier for the government to continue in the progression of their disease.

This baffling phenomenon is called enabling, which takes many forms, all of which have the same effect — allowing the government to avoid the consequences of it’s actions. This in turn allows the government to continue merrily along their free spending ways, secure in the knowledge that no matter how much they screw up, the taxpayer will always be there to rescue them from their mistakes.

What is the difference between helping and enabling? There are many opinions and viewpoints on this, some of which can be found on the pages linked below, but here is a simple description:

Helping is doing something for someone that they are not capable of doing themselves. Enabling is doing for someone things that they could, and should be doing themselves.

Simply, enabling creates a atmosphere in which the government can continue with their unacceptable behavior.
